Surroundings 

Eastbourne extends from Seaview in the north to Burdans Gate in the south. Burdans Gate is known for its beach and foreshore and is the entrance to both East Harbour Regional Park and Pencarrow Coastal Trail.
 
Eastbourne developed from a holiday and recreation location for Wellingtonians in the early 1900s to today's pleasant seaside Village and recreation location. A bus service and the East by West Ferry that runs between Wellington and Days Bay provide public transport.
 
Eastbourne has a splendid natural setting. Bounded by Wellington Harbour with a narrow coastal fringe backed by a green belt. It is a diverse landscape of bush,sea,hills and dunes (East Harbour Regional Park).There are bush tracks including Butterfly Creek. It is a gateway to the Pencarrow Lighthouse which offers both spectacular views and tranquil surroundings. 
 

Eastbourne village and the Days Bay areas are only a few minutes drive from the guesthouse. Here you are well served with a variety of cafes, restaurants and diverse retail.


Matiu/Somes Island is just 15 minutes by ferry from Days Bay and is a great place to spend the day. The island is a tranquil retreat for wildlife and visitors alike. It has a gentle track circumnavigating the 24.8 hectare island. The island supports a range of New Zealand's unique and some threatened native wildlife such as the red-crowned parakeet, North Island robin, variable oystercatcher, as well as the world's smallest penguin, the little blue penguin. You will also find giant weta; skinks, geckos and tuatara.
